sweet snack swaps

i am a snacker.

and while i know that’s not a personality trait, it’s definitely one of the things that pops into my mind when i think about my favourite things!

and lately, it’s been cookies.

but i’m very, very, very picky when it comes to them & i’ve spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen trying different ‘healthier’ recipes that won’t give me diabetes or fatty liver.

and today i give you my spin on some of the best recipes i’ve found for healthier desserts – two cookie & one milkshake recipe – because it’s summertime & i love a sweet cold treat:

oatmeal cookies:


2 ripe mashed bananas 
1 & 1/2 cups quick oats
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped nuts

mix & bake at 350 for 15 minutes

coconut cookies:


2 ripe mashed bananas
2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut

mix & bake at 350 for 20 minutes 

drizzle melted dark chocolate on top

oreo milkshake:


1 frozen banana
1 cup milk (i use unsweetened almond milk)
2-3 oreos (or chips ahoy or any other cookie!)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

blend all together in your blender 



i absolutely love these treats & i don’t feel bad after eating them (& i have one of them every day)!

plus, they have very few ingredients & are super easy to make – which is always a bonus in my book.

  1. Those cookies sound delicious and so easy to make! Bananas are so good for you too. I’m going to try these, just have to get some bananas.

    1. they did take some getting used to – they’re not as ‘nice’ as homemade ones with flour, eggs & sugar – but they definitely do the trick when i want to eat better 😉

  2. Well I hate any type of work in the kitchen but I made the first recipe. Super easy and they are good, really good.
